The first gig I did with the line up, everyone was nervous as I hadn't rehearsed and they had only heard me playing either crazy slap shit, or stuff that suited Geezer Butler

I just took my all my blues chops and moved them up 3 semitones. The band had a swing to them that their permanent bass player didn't bring.

Anyway, I had turned thirty. I was living in Canberra and decided to do something about it.

I was never a country fan when I was young, but I loved the blues. My mate, who was a bit older, and was a sensational guitarist, pointed me at country, and I picked up a few gigs playing bass. It wasn't too bad, but, being young, I found the people I worked with didn't have that kick
