Until recently I used a photo of our pooch for my avatar.
I miss seeing his happy face staring at me (on-screen). I'll need to post some photos of him from time-to-time, instead.

Hi all. Today is #WorldPhotoDay ! So I guess that's the perfect day to introduce myself here!
I'm a working fine art photographer with too many projects on the go at any one time. Until a couple years ago I was working as a pro, but chronic illness has forced me to slow way down.
My last big project was this:

From which I attach a few images below.
Currently finally about to start a new long term project. My pro work is linked in my profile.

Aye, for my macro work IR would be easier. My IR was super convenient, as it was less than half the size of a credit card and took a button cell that lasted for a couple of years or more.
@masklayer
My old system had an infra-red remote, which was more useful for the kind of thing you are doing.
My OMD EM-1 uses a radio controlled remote control, which is more useful for wildlife stuff as it can work at up to 100 metres distance and the camera doesn't need to be in direct line of sight. However, it is much more bulky.
@masklayer
Ah, right, got you now. I thought you were referring to in-camera focus stacking, which I use quite a lot for #macro photos.
I have a remote for my camera but most cameras now have apps for remote control using a smartphone. My Olympus camera has Live Bulb, Live Time and Live Composite, all of which can be controlled using the remote, so no camera shake.
@masklayer
Does the camera not have timer setting you could use?
I've done very little night photography. What advantage did the stacking give you?
It's so different to look at completely dark sky and see how much more you can see.

@masklayer
That's a lot of stars!
How long did you expose for?
@zyx
I've always loved 70s disco, particularly the hairstyles.
I live in Edinburgh, Scotland. I work as a development manager for a university. I’m bi and married to @Hammer.
I like reading (literary fiction, sci-fi, pop science), cooking from scratch (but not baking), gardening (tiny edible balcony garden, succulents) feminist & equality politics, D&D (dwarf cleric, chaotic good) , my cat Starbuck (british blue) and learning new things. Toot toot!

Happy Birthday, Debian. 🎂 🎉 🎈
25 years old.
Ian Murdock announced #Debian on August 16th 1993. The first release, 0.01, was made the next month, on September 15th.
Congratulations & thanks to the Debian volunteers, past and present, for making it such a fantastic distro. Here's to the next 25 years.

@imag1narynumber
That's a shame.
You could always leave your account open, and then, if you change your mind, it is easy to come back. Nobody would mind if you did that.
If you definitely want to delete your account, go to: Preferences, then select Security and at the bottom of that page there is a section "DELETE ACCOUNT".
@imag1narynumber
Sorry to hear. Going to something else in the Fediverse?
@imag1narynumber
Are you wanting to leave us?
Tonight's film is going to be:
A Night to Remember (1955)
starring Kenneth More
It's about a ship called the Titanic, crossing the Atlantic.
Don't tell me what happens, I want a surprise.
@inAktion
Slà inte mhath.

Not questioning your choice of markup, just wondering how you would use it. I see now. Proper emphasis instead of * *, could even have wee code blocks. Yeah, that would be good.
@simon_brooke
Not with you. Why would you want Markdown?
