@Combaticus A friend of mine told me that purportedly some guy lost a game, stormed out and came back with a gun.
But this came from him watching CNN, so take it with a grain of salt. The rush to report with wrong or inconsistent facts is absolutely responsible for things like the Sandy Hook conspiracy theories.
@CSB Scrum master is either one of the people from either group OR in the case of a project manager neither. Really more of a chef trying to figure out how much bacon fat we need for breakfast. They do tend to be more like a pig than a chicken though because they're usually the one communicating missed deadlines, so management expectation implies their fate is tied to the proverbial pigs.
Q: What's the difference between Jake Tapper and a prostitute? A: One gets paid handfuls of cash to do shameful and degrading things which tear apart the fabric of society, the other makes an honest living as a sex worker.
@PhoneBoy I spotted the same trick the other day. There's a store brand set of spice blends at my local grocery. I looked at one and it said 0g carbs, yet it contained sugar. Turns out the serving size? .5g with hundreds of servings. I'm sure if you look at the regulations there's some point where you get to round down.
@chris@dcgirl the NYT ran a story yesterday that he was discontinuing treatment. I expected he would go fast after that, but gee. Of course it's friggin' brain cancer so I'm surprised he kept on for this long (let alone not give up his seat)
@dcgirl Yea. He was showing his phone on camera to show off his website and for a split second it showed his open browser tabs. There was a link to the ad segment he was doing and it looks legit to me and not a photoshop.
@CSB Product managers/owners are chickens. Software engineers are pigs. The analogy really runs into this idea that it is quite easy for folks to imagine how something ought to work in totality without understanding the amount of effort required to make it happen. Adding a number to a screen might seem like a small task because the change is small but the effort to get the data behind the scenes might be huge.
@aven The prosecutors *foolishly* charged him with murder in the first. There will be a shitstorm if he gets off, people will be angry but no one will stand up and say the prosecutor fucked up and should have gone for manslaughter.
@aven@monsterbater Usually victims become perps themselves. A person I once considered a friend is in prison for a very long time for a sex act with a minor. What he did is vile and I have had no contact with him since, but the whole thing takes on a different valence when you think of them as a person instead of just a monster. One part of me wants to kick the shit out of him but another part pities him as a truly broken man.
