ah, eAssist works like the Honda Insight, so literally it can send all of the power to the back if it needs to.

as far as my butt-dyno can tell, it is usually somewhere around a 60/40 split favoring FWD, you can tell when it flips to favoring RWD because it lurches a little

honestly recent VWs and recent Fiats are pretty decent on quality (i know, i know)

so they might actually wind up quite upset, especially since it's a "new car"

i have heard the new prius is good, but you can't get it in AWD can you?

i'm just over here rocking an AWD buick with their hybrid tech eAssist or whatever it is called

seems mostly ok, 90k miles so far and no major problems yet

ah i get what you're saying now. yeah, i agree, the people who want to buy model 3 to "show off" will be happy regardless (just like they are with the model S even though most model S are falling apart)

on the other hand, the people who want the reliability and build quality you expect in a mid-range car, like the people buying the prius, are going to be turbo pissed when the model 3 starts breaking down like the model S is known to do ;)

well, first off, as somebody who has a luxury car largely because i like to go on road trips and road tripping in an economy car really sucks, i'm going to have to say that a prius is no substitute for a proper touring car

secondly, the ironic thing is, actually, i have friends who have teslas and they keep having to take them in for service. so i would say the reliability is actually on par with a mercedes.

the thing that pisses me off about the video's comments too is that they attack the guy for being old

newsflash: if you're buying a tesla model 3, you're probably old enough where this stuff actually matters

i mean, i'm in my 30s now and this shit is already starting to matter

and that the driver is not drunk and doesn't crash it into a barrier...

    that will never happen right?

and honestly, i am still WTFing over the fact that you have to go get a car battery and jumper cables to pop the hood on the model 3

better hope the driver is still conscious and their giant ipad is still working ;/

i should note that now that i have my own house, i have looked at EVs as a possibility

but teslas are just unattractive given the price points and build quality

why the fuck am i going to finance a car for $500/mo that looks like a car i could buy at a kia dealership brand new for like $8000 cash if that

@mallaidh seriously, the build quality resembles a fucking hyundai and it costs 30k

    it costs 30k

    IT COSTS 30K

nobody is going to want to drop 30k for a car that is clearly slapped together

i mean, really the market is a lot different for the model S vs the model 3.

model S is mostly bought by hardcore EV fans who, in case you didn't notice, don't have much options in the "not an economy EV car" segment

model 3 is going up against economy EV cars, many of which have much better build quality and similar features (even lane-keeping autopilot, hell that is a feature on my car and it's made by fucking GM) at the same price point.

people are going to be super angry about model 3 build quality when they get their cars for sure and musk isn't going to have a damn thing to say about it

"a word of advice to all you tesla fans: you do not do the company any favors by giving it a pat on the back for a job poorly done"

"you should be demanding excellence from this company and see that it delivers, because otherwise it's not going to survive"

    utterly owned

if you drop 80k for a model S you shouldn't feel like you're riding around in a hamster wagon with an $8995 MSRP (the kia soul)

nice features meet an economy car build quality which makes one wonder why anyone would drop that kind of money for it

one of my neighbours got a tesla model 3 and they literally have to slam the trunk down in order for it to close...

i mean, i'm not saying tesla build quality is garbage, but they seem to lack attention to the details people tend to care about when buying a new car for 30k+

what i don't understand is clearly musk has engineers who have enough skill to launch a car into deep space

but yet, the teslas rolling around here have panel gaps and tolerance loads that remind me of a mid-90s chevy lumina... and these are meant to be luxury cars wtf

you know, there's something hilarious about a coal-rolling diesel pickup truck crashing into a "clean electric vehicle" in the middle of outer space

perhaps the collision, too, would be "art"
