thinking about removing the streaming server in mastodon-hardened and instead concentrating on making polling as efficient as possible.

okay. lets revisit after the RAM usage issues are fixed :)
would you be open to carrying a ruby-based streaming server if it doesn't use up tons of CPU/RAM?
what is the specific scalability issue?
maintaining two versions of SQL queries (one for the API, and one for streaming) is quite annoying
@Gargron why is the streaming server in node.js when puma supports websocket?
mainstream media too obsessed with providing a platform for shit talking these days
TNG is good in it's own right, but it's not very related to TOS.
The expanded TNG universe shows had good seasons and bad seasons, for example, DS9 can be pretty much ignored until season 2 or so when the Maquis and Dominion wars start to heat up. Voyager I would consider to be good, but non-essential.
The TNG movie universe was mostly good.
Both Enterprise and the new Star Trek: Discovery are trash.
@Technowix @Gargron that is awful from a security and usability pov
@Gargron yep
@Gargron in that case i would like to see a staff-only invite setting (mods and admins)
@Gargron i would like to see users be able to invite new users (a setting for this) instead of just admins but maybe you already covered that
the hostage code thing is real btw. if you ever want to swat yourself, 2580 will get the job done in almost all cases.
the security system guy was all serious business about it.
seriously though for all the times i have used the security system, somebody has always managed to set it off by accident
@tw i will admit the amazon video and netflix apps are more stable on my current tv which runs some vizio bastardization of android tv than my previous one which ran actual android tv, but it’s suggestion that i want to go from st:tng to terminator 2 is still quite nuts
@tw i think i will stick with binge watching st:tng, i realized i had never watched every episode including the ones i thought were going to be awful
@tw i think i will stick with binge watching st:tng, i realized i had never watched every episode including the ones i thought we’re going to be awful
i mean really the only reason i am thinking about this at all is because my tv keeps asking if i want to watch terminator 2 for free, which i don’t.
seriously it’s not covered in terminator 3, if the AI chips were destroyed then skynet shouldn’t have been created and thusly any timeline where skynet exists wouldn’t exist anymore
if they destroyed the AI chips and original terminator in terminator 2, then why is there any sequels to terminator 2?
