obviously recognize that bad shit has gone down, and still does go down, but realize that working toward solutions to modern problems is what really matters.

the approach used in the PR was not palatable to upstream, upstream likes the mute approach better, but no patch was done as yet for that.

thinking on ways to better harden unsolicited DM spam/abuse.

i'm thinking some sort of automatic thread muting, depending on who initiated the DM.

DM initiated by you: no muting

DM initiated by somebody you follow: no muting

DM initiated by somebody you don't follow: muted by default on first encounter of the message, can remove the mute if wanted
