Quick trip into town completed, I had a cheque back from the DVLA which needed banking.
Of course if you wish to pay /them/ you can pay instantly over the internet..when they need to repay you, they pay via the 1600's technology...

@cybette another boardgames fan? That's a topic we could have spent a while on at #osseu ;)
Spent the evening on Charterstone, myself ...
The only open source ones I know of are Apertium and OpenNMT, you can find all the relevant links in the Bubbling Under section:
I recall someone mentioning a good alternative to Google Translate a while back, but forgot to note what it was. Can the Fedi-brain remind me, please?

@HerraBRE which reminds me, I need to go see if I can update the Arch package....
@cybette despite the fact that it definitely applies to me, it does feel somewhat in the "made-up-name" category. I've never felt disadvantaged because of it ;)
@puffinux indeed. I've watched the change in how the UK observes this over the last *cough* decades, and not with any great pleasure.
I suppose I will not be able to avoid it next year. Kids are getting to a participatory age...
"The basic insight behind Prio is that for most purposes we donโt need to collect individual data, but rather only aggregates. [Prio] does this by having the browser break the data up into two โsharesโ, each of which is sent to a different server. Individually the shares donโt tell you anything about the data being reported, but together they do... Over the next few months weโll be doing further testing..."

I forgot to post this last week, but I was really happy with my memento from chatting with the Commandline Hero team at #ossummit...
I have huge respect for those who can draw. I can't at all (see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aphantasia).
Halloween is the one event I cannot get behind. All the others are great, but this one, no. Maybe I just don't like dressing up, or answering the door 40 times in one evening.
Ah well, it's over for another year.
The world is scary.
You have two options.
Look away in silence and wait for it to get so scary that you can't do that anymore because that silence let all choice be removed,
or look at it and tell others what you see and do what you can to stop it from reaching the point where speaking against it is impossible.
There is silent sliding to common oblivion or speaking up to preserve life, others' and yours.
There are literally no other options than silence or life.
You can't do everything, but you certainly can do something. Do that.
Choose life.
@drewzero1 that's the usual argument for hotspot wifi, yeah. In this case it was an authenticated private AP, but I guess it's *technically* public since anyone could be hotdesking.
Anyway, Tor++ ;)
@zhenech search me. Not my WiFi network :)
