@twistedLucidity I'm not actually all that worried. KRACK is a big deal out of nothing IMO. It's basically a MiTM attack that is very complex to carry out. As long as you follow basic security standard at home, and don't connect to Starbuck's you should be fine.

@mike it would be totally voluntary, I wouldn't expect anyone to chip in who either can't, or doesn't want to.

The hosting for Fosstodon is currently very cheap, I'm more than happy to pay for it myself for the foreseeable future. Thanks though, buddy!

@twistedLucidity as I understand it, most manufacturers stuck to the embargo, which ended on Monday AM EST?

Personally, I think it's a good thing as it's allowing manufacturers to patch and the researchers are following responsible disclosure. Yeah, they could have been quicker to patch, but at least it's getting there without POCs and exploit kits being posted everywhere.

What if we set up a Patreon account for Fosstodon for people to make donations, then, every month we pick a project (or more than one) to donate to? We could have a monthly shortlist and vote.

So I've been using @nextcloud for the past month or so, whilst working through the process of De-Googling. I'm sorry to swear guys, but Nextcloud is nothing short of fucking awesome! It just keeps getting better and better.

@mike yeah, I think that would work. A phone you could "dock" to become your desktop would be awesome. But they do need two separate UIs
