@rhitakorrr The reason to use Kanji in place of hiragana, besides Japanese having a lot of homophones, is that Japanese has a lack of spaces and hiragana is used for articles, particles and prepositions, along with being able to be used to spell words. Using Kanji in place of what would be a hiragana helps differentiate things. On the other hand, if a sentence is simple enough, it can be written fully in hiragana.
@rhitakorrr Standard sequence is hiragana - - > katakana - - > Kanji. Hiragana is the essential alphabet system that native Japanese breaks down into. Katakana is an alphabet system used to indicate or signal that what is being written is a loan word, and it also can have a certain aesthetic role distinct from hiragana. Kanji are used to indicate or signal that what is being written is a verb/noun/adjective, or more generally to distinguish among homophones, in place of hiragana.
Instead of enabling #hashtag#trending vs. making it hard to find tags and convos, what's the third option? How do we get the good without the bad?
1) Make hastags 1st class citizens, like posts -- eg. being able to report, block or mute them? 2) Instances blocking hashtags? 3) Auto-banning users by hashtag? 4) A downvoting system like reddit? Eg. upvote or downvote a tag to affect its trendiness? 5) Could trending tags actually *combat* abuse?
@rhitakorrr I prefer Memrise to Duolingo but I use both. Also just using the traditional ways of practicing kana is good. Like flashcards, pronunciation practice with native speaker, and trying to reconstruct the hiragana and katakana tables from scratch.
I also think Kanji is nice to ease into by learning common Kanji you would use, in addition to eventually building your Kanji skill by studying the radicals and how the ideograms relate and build up.
@abs Haven't eaten squashes in a long time.. Can't even remember what they taste like. ๐ So I hope it goes well!!! Also sounds like a bit of fusion. :3
Feel free to give me some feedback or use it as your icon (you probably won't but well)~ So it's pretty obvious that I developed this obsession with elf ears and hair buns XD
@Nightingalle Yeah, it was good you did because the hairstyle came out extra cute/beautiful! But yeah, I'm starting to see you develop a more defined style in general--at least from the stuff I've personally seen. :blobowo:
@animeirl Given some recent news and behavior I'm becoming a less loyal FF user. Using Vivaldi instead. There aren't a lot of good browser options lately without having to balance so many trade-offs.
