Anarchy is a popular idea, but in order to be able to believe in anarchy, you must believe that humans are rational and wise enough to handle it.

I believe we are extremely irrational and stupid, and that it would fall apart, not necessarily due to the anarchists themselves, but due to other groups that will step in to exploit the power vacuum. Anarchy lacks a mechanism for protecting itself, and is thus vulnerable to attack.

@debbie You can't really have a war without the government's involvement, unless there is a civil war, at which point all of this is becomes moot.

During wartime, normal politics is usually put on hold, and the whole country mobilises, independently of peacetime political standpoints.

Heavy-handed intervention in business affairs is not uncommon at such times. The government will take every measure it can to win the war, so all I'm saying is that nobody should profit from that.

I don't like the combination of capitalism and war. I don't like war period, but defensive operations to stop an invading force are a necessary evil. What's not necessary is war profiteering. No one should profit off a war. In the event of a war, the government should require businesses to sell military equipment to them at cost. This would neuter the military-industrial complex, since industrialists would no longer have an incentive to lobby for a war.

@clacke Is it easy to get a simple HTTP server for serving static files up and running? What about WebSockets?

@clacke It looks like it's mainly intended for embedding inside of other apps, though?

What's a good light-weight high-level language that will launch and execute fast on slow ARM processors running Linux, is easy to learn, and lets you launch HTTP and WebSockets servers and HTTP client requests easily in a manner similar to node.js? node.js isn't it. It's heavy as hell.

In fact, he's so dense that he doesn't get that he needs to stop what he's doing until I'm more or less within arm's reach of him, at which point he'll scramble to get out of the way, knocking everything over.

Instead of learning that there are certain things he can't do, he has learned that he needs to watch my movements, and he's not smart enough to see a pattern to it, so to him, I'm this unpredictable ape that gets mad at random times.

@biot Well, I wanted something very specific. I wanted to use an RGBW sensor to control the colour of specific lights in order to make them match the light conditions outside, but to gradually transition to a fixed warm white mode with the overhead lights off as daylight fades away, and I don't think there's an app for that? I mean, I had to use machine learning to get perfect colour matching because of nonlinearities in the sensor and the lights themselves.

I know that the government is now recommending the purchase of iodine tablets in case of a nuclear strike by the Russians (fear mongering in my opinion), but what kind of fucked up marketeer decided that, hey, this is a great opportunity for some sponsored content?

Do they not see how fucked up this entire situation is? I'm horrified and outraged!

This senseless war machinery is activating and there is not a thing one can do about it. The government drums up the fear and the media helps them. The generals want a war, because that's what generals do, and industrialists wants a war, because wars are good business. It seems that whenever a society runs out of problems to solve, it decides to start a war, and it's usually over nothing. There's just this need to have wars that humans have...

The problem, of course, is that, by the end of it, politicians will have convinced the people of Russia and NATO that, yes, they do in fact want a conflict. It's madness.

I don't think the people of Russia and NATO want this conflict. Like every conflict before it, this one was created by politicians, generals and weapons dealers.
