@jk The closest you can get to not having to use a computer is to use a computer that is very good at pretending to not be a horrible mess of billions of transistorised switches, such as an iPhone or iPad. The iPad is especially popular among the very young and the very old for this reason. You can drool on it, let the cat play with it, and generally behave like a caveman, and it will happily continue to pretend that it is not in fact a horrible mess of billions of transistorised circuits.

For some reason, Linux Mint runs horribly as a VirtualBox guest.

Okay, I have my 250 GB Samsung EVO SSD split up the way I want it: 190 GB for Windows 10 and 50 GB for Linux Mint. I originally bought this drive as the main boot disk for an old MacBook Pro, but then that machine died, so I recycled the drive in my Hackintosh instead. It's been housing a Windows 10 guest image as its sole file, so I had named it Windows 10. Now that the space is shared with Linux, I renamed it VirtualBox and symlinked the "VirtualBox VMs" folder in my home directory to it.

For the VirtualBox cloning thing I was barely hitting 50 MB/s. This is measured as I use 'mv' to move the new disk image back to the old partition it was cloned from after deleting the original.

Yeah, see, this is more like it in terms of SSD I/O performance.

Are those little kitchen blowtorches good for giving microwaved food a crust? I imagine it would be good for anything that would normally have a crust if you baked or fried it. I assume it can be used to trigger a Maillard reaction in just about anything, not just crème brûlée.

I don't know what the hell this tool is even doing. It doesn't offer any data on its progress except printing a percentage every 100 years or so, and the destination file size seems to grow in bursts...

My god, VirtualBox clonemedium is a very slow command. 50 MB per second when cloning between two Samsung EVO SSDs. There was zero point in even using the SSDs, the bottleneck is in the software. I hate software that does that.

@kensanata This would be much easier if replies were visible across instances. Instead, you only see the replies from accounts that your instance knows about.

Okay, for some stupid reason, even if you repartition a Windows 10 guest on a dynamic VDI on VirtualBox, you can't just tell VirtualBox to shrink the drive. It says that the operation is not supported yet. What the hell, VirtualBox?

@rpcutts Obama will mostly be remembered as the first black POTUS. Trump will be remembered as a highly controversial maverick. He's right up there with Nixon as one of the least palatable people to inhabit the Oval Office, possibly even surpassing him. Even a supporter of Donald Trump must admit that the guy is a blowhard and quite hard on the eyes and ears.
