Interesting about using AI for work (not programming work): It helps seniors and juniors, but helps juniors more. Different people have different styles of working with AI: cooperating ("cyborgs") or delegating ("centaurs")

It can enhance both performance and quality, but unless one is careful and knows what work to double-check, it can be terrible for quality.

I hate what's happening to Sam Neill, but I love how he's taking it. My parents have been the same way with their cancers. (they're currently doing ok, we're ok)

I try to do the same thing in life: Do what you can to handle it and if you feel you're doing what you can, keep doing that and let it go unless anything changes.

Sometimes things get to you, but when it works it works. It's a goal.

What you have to understand about Alan Walker is that he is Norwegian.

When his lyricist writes "give in to the dark side" it's not a Star Wars reference, nothing about the struggle of the soul, it just means going to Tromsø during winter.

The heck? I'm going to pick up Caprica as I interrupted my viewing way back when.

I thought the series poster would be the face of an early line Cylon, which is how I remember it, but it's the main plot-relevant character undressed and holding an apple. The horizontal crop of the poster is just shoulders and face, but the vertical crop shows the whole upper body, posed so as to be all skin but showing no forbidden parts that would block it from general use.

I get it, it's a story about origins, rebirth and humanity making a choice, so an Adam and Eve type poster is not completely out there, especially given the religious themes and Abrahamic monotheistic propaganda of the series, but still. This is definitely suggestive, and a bit seductive. The actress was 22 in 2009, but the character was a teenager!

I went to the clinic to see if I could get a covid booster shot before traveling this weekend, but they're all out and they don't have the latest XBB1.5 strain yet either, only last year's bivalent one (ancestral + omicron I think?).

I would have to pay out of pocket, as they government program only covers risk groups now. I didn't ask what it would cost as I can't get it anyway. They suggested to check one of the hospitals, they might have stock (old bivalent).

We're about five degrees west of 120°E, geographical UTC+8, so we're on 20 minutes "permanent daylight saving" (and so is Beijing), so sunset is not centered around 18, it's at 17:40 at winter solstice and at 19:00 at summer solstice, and that's why we weren't at 18:00 already at equinox.

The EU still has DST, even though they decided four years ago to eliminate it, so in two weeks we'll be 7 h ahead of Sweden rather than 6 h ahead of Sweden.
