@schaueho @mdallastella I don't like the article much. As you mentioned he he doesn't touch on the things that make Lisp great. He also brings up an example that is very terse, but really, if terseness was everything then we'd all be programming APL. And I like APL.

It somehow feels to me that the only reason the author prefers Clojure over Common Lisp is because the function names are shorter in Clojure.

@lynnesbian The whole Vulkan and OSX thing deosn't make any sense to me. I mean, back when Microsoft created DirectX, they did it to lock in games developers to the Windows ecosystem. But Apples doesn't have any users to lock in, so why are they pushing their own API? They're only locking out developers from using their hardware.

The difference altitude above the horizon makes. M70(L) was only about 6° above the horizon when this photo was taken on Sunday. On the same night M72(R) was about 26° above the horizon. The difference in quality is due to the amount of air the light had to get through. #astrophoto

@kaniini ANothe rproblem with Discord is that is uses grey test on white background. It's impossible to read, and there is no way to consumise the colours short of using an extension that allows you to replace the CSS.

Like you said, why do people use that garbage.

That's the way I want paste to work in almost every case when I paste to a browser. That would also fix the problem of style being carried over into the destination text.

This should be the default. There should be a Firefox extention that implements this

I do a lot of Common Lisp, and use of quote with the empty list is very rare in code that I work with. Also, I don't think I've ever used it myself.

You don't have to feel a bad about not using it. Some people claim it increases readability, but I don't actually agree with that

@tfb Wow. Have you seen them live?

Some time in the 90's, I went to an amazing show where DAF, Front 242, S.P.O.C.K., And One (and possibly some other band I've forgotten about) played.

That was an absolutely stunning experience. DAF started with Der Mussolini, and after 11 more song, they finished with the same song again.

@mike Indeed. It sounds very different, and I guess that's what I (and I suppose other fans) didn't like at the time.

I'm glad to say that I have completely changed my mind on this, and can admit that this is a great track.

I've been a Skinny Puppy fan since way back, and when this song came out I didn't like it because it was too different from their earlier works.

However, with significant numbers of years of hindsight, this is a great song. The video is also great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RLoP8hQ2_8

@djsundog Not code. But when doing graphics that involves a lot of trigonometry I draw it on paper to work all the coordinate out.

It's far too easy to get that stuff wrong if you write the code first, and drawing it on paper first really helps you get everything right.
