(Using only pdftk in the terminal)
$ pdftk researchgate.pdf cat 2-end output clean.pdf
$ rm researchgate.pdf
(Actually it just takes out the 1st page of any pdf)

It should be illegal to ask an employee to give an institution an interest-free loan in the form of paying up-front for work-related conferences, etc. and then reimbursing that expense later
The current system seems really exploitative, and we have the technology to do prepaid credit cards or whatever
