the fantasy is to express one’s individuality and be in control of one’s life, but the only way we can imagine doing that is being the stars of a government-backed social darwinist hellworld, because that’s what we know best.

interestingly, the one arena in which it’s not an impossible is the corporate world, where you can get away with murder and the government may even help you with it.

@kureshii @machado @vgr No, that's not the problem. It's that I'm not threatening, and then I do something assertive/in my own interest, and people see the previous behaviour as being fake or manipulative.

due to my appearance and personality, i code as “obviously nonthreatening”, and then people are surprised that i have interests that may be at odds with theirs. i need to do some image management around this

@Elmkast Hmm, that's interesting. He seems to suggest that the protections around lease transfers are greater than I thought. I already kind of threatened my landlord with going to the Regie but they wouldn't budge. Maybe I need to push harder.

@Elmkast this is kind of what i’m getting that. probably to the extent that anyone is in a position of power as a monopoly capitalist, that power will be abused.
