Website diet progress: from 290kb initial download and 14 requests to 8 external sites (+4 local), down to 18.2kb and 3 external requests (and still 4 local). I'll kill the three external requests next, then work on the local ones: I can probably merge two stylesheets, and perhaps kill all JavaScript on the site.
Then I need to work a bit on the layout to make it look presentable.

House search progress: 75%. Found something that fits all our requirements on paper. Will visit and have a look at it this Friday, and if all goes well, we'll start the necessary procedures next week or so. Quite exciting!

Case in point, a week or so ago I was watching the Twins sleep on the balcony, and dozed off, as always. This time though, I had a dream: I saw my grandparents (who passed away almost 10 years ago) in the garden below, waving at us. Felt like they came to visit.
This tore me apart, and every time I remember this dream, I start down the "What could have been..." path. What if they still lived to see their great-grandchildren? What if... this, or that?
And I know all too well, that they're gone.

You know what sucks? When a tiny little thing triggers a memory, which starts an avalancha of thoughts. The original memory is upsetting as it is, but the train of thougths that follow... feels like every moment beats another nail into my heart.

The only downside of this desk so far is that it is smaller than the desk I've been using before. Makes monitor arrangement a little bigger challenge.
(It is also an adjustable desk, but doesn't have a motor, so I have to adjust it manually. No big deal, because once I'm happy with the height, I'm not going to change it :p)

It also makes it more likely that I'll take part in various discussions, because it is easy to walk over.
You see, I'm a terribly lazy person, and a lot of the benefits come from the simple fact that I can skip one step of the process: standing up from a sitting position. Crazy, huh?

For me, it is a lot easier to work at a standing desk because:
- My back doesn't hurt. Even with a good chair, with sufficient back support, and a professional helping me set things up, it still hurts after a while. Not with a standing desk.
- As I'm already standing, and don't have to stand up from a chair, I take breaks more often. I walk, stretch, relax, exercise. A lot healthier. All because I'm already standing.
- These walks and breaks help me relax, and go through the day standing. -

Colleagues expressed their skepticism that I can work a full day at a standing desk. Little do they know I've been working at one at home for months already. It's not a sudden change, nor an experiment.

Transitioned to a standing desk at work today. So much more comfortable! Should not have procrastinated on it so long.

Consistently around 90WPM today. I remember a year ago when I was pretty happy with consistently being around 80WPM...
Now if I only learned not to bottom out, I could get even higher... and become much quieter too.

@kensanata I want to keep the account, to avoid the handle being re-used, and to have a single "I moved to Mastodon" tweet still. I also follow a bunch of people over there who are not on Mastodon, so I'll keep the twitter account in a read-only way until I convince enough of them to start using this platform too.
It's mostly the former though.
