The burden of implementing #uploadfilter should be on the copyright holder organizations. Implement as a SaaS. Youtube pays $0.01 per each correct hit, and copyright holders $100 for each false positive.
Basically, it's an RPG played on IRC where you gain XP by being idle. Quitting, talking, etc will result in penalties. The characters still wander around the map, pick up items, and so on, but without interaction. You just sit back and idle.
This is why I never share pictures of our kids publicly. I rarely share events of our lives too (sometimes I have to, hope the kids will understand). This is why I shout the head off of any relative who re-posts a picture of the kids online.
Social media is a dangerous weapon. We should wield it responsibly. Especially when #parenting.
Ok, after getting inspired by a conversation with @algernon earlier today (and their related blog post), I've decided to try out life without syntax highlighting.
I'm not sure how long I'll stick with it, but I've changed out my color schemeβso at least I'll have something new for #screenshotSunday this week.
@schlink Looks nice! Limelight.vim (linked from the repo) too. I use something similar with Emacs, but it doesn't work too well for the code I'm mostly working with nowadays (it's kinda useless when it'd highlight the whole screen).
@codesections Been using a similar setup for almost a year now, very happy with it. It's definitely unconventional, and colleagues were always looking at me funnily when I was working in an office. :)
(Mind you, my choice of keyboards, or a standing desk, might have been contributing factors too...)
@codesections There is a wide gutter (see attached screenshot), it's just the same color as the background. But no line numbers, minimal syntax highlighting, and no mode line either (I can toggle all of those on if need be, but I very rarely do apart from navigating, when I have relative line numbers shown temporarily).
@szbalint I've used DigitalOcean for a number of years, very, very satisfied. Good service, helpful staff, reasonable prices. I ended up migrating to Hetzner due to them having better prices at the time (only for DO to lower their prices a month later...)
@tootbrute It would be tempting to say yes, and pretend I am better read than I really am - but alas, no. I haven't heard of Lu Xun before - something to fix soon.
The title came from the hostname (asylum.madhouse-project.org), and the MadHouse Project is something I call my own projects (the name traces back to my high-school years, late-1996/early-1997). The Project initially involved more people, and we were creating some stuff we believed to be mad enough to feel the name's appropriate.
@ckeen That'd be an option, but I'm gonna use the name for the Thing too. As easy as it would be, I don't want to call a physical "product" "Unnamed Thing". It would be funny and easy, but the Thing deserves a proper name.
Naming things is still hard. I have a blog post written, but I don't have a name for the Thing yet. Been pondering about names for the past hour and a half.
