@kirch
that reminds me of astronaut.io
ยซASTRONAUTToday, you are an Astronaut. You are floating in inner space 100 miles above the surface of Earth. You peer through your window and this is what you see. You are people watching. These are fleeting moments.
These videos come from YouTube. They were uploaded in the last week and have titles likeย DSC 1234ย andย IMG 4321. They have almost zero previous views. They are unnamed, unedited, and unseen (by anyone but you).ยป

@sconlan @ink_slinger just thought of this while snooping on your thread. one approach for similar password checking that doesn't keep old passwords around in readable formats:
- user submits new password to server
- fuzz the password (strip ending numbers, increment, decrement, etc.) and generate hashes for all those iterations
- compare all fuzzed password hashes against the list of old password hashes for a 'likeness' match -

@thomasfuchs @wzqtparor from my experience in the wider industry, the trends seem pretty spot-on to the local IBM/telco/msft/redhat jobs over the last 10 or so years.

@ekaitz_zarraga I was introduced to Go a bunch of years back by a co-worker & math phd & ex-university professor, has written papers on game theory and solving Go.
And I'm just sitting here plopping my black ones in a line.

A warning for those who build a livelihood on proprietary systems and services:
Cloud9 (cloud IDE, deployment, and hosting) was bought by Amazon a few years ago, and is now shutting down its original service this December, leaving users scrambling who don't want to migrate to AWS.
https://community.c9.io/t/is-cloud9-being-replaced-with-aws-cloud-9/20910
* One user has 147 Cloud9 projects that he doesn't know what to do with;
* Another spent countless hours building course-ware and video tutorials that are now completely useless.

`iscsiadm` is a command that I've used for maybe 10 years, probably weekly, and still need to look up the usage every single time.

@brightneedle hell yes. it's even worse in their developer landscape. google authored libraries/sdks/toolkits will go from heavily developed to abandoned within weeks, and no notice.

@sconlan my car has a stupid bug with the locks where if you lock the doors before closing them (and still sitting in the car), the only way to get the key fob working again is to pop the trunk and close it.
like tricking the car into thinking it's done a good job by letting me get the keys by crawling in through the trunk because i've locked myself out.
