@t54r4n1 My dream these days is a tiny cottage or little home surrounded by moorland or open land and very little else. I'm happy/comfortable with my own company and find that the urban world has increasingly little to offer me - places to tire yourself out working pointless jobs and places to spunk away the money you made.

What we don't have much of in this country is wide-open space. I feel so much more relaxed with a big sky and flat land.

@djsundog The National Museum of Computing near Milton Keynes in England is a great place for that. A lot of the volunteers there who keep the machines running are those who worked on them when they were in use in enterprise environments.

Being able to talk to the actual people involved in using and maintaining the machines makes the museum a lot more interesting than just a collection of old computers.

@mayel I'm not so keen on jazz, I used to listen to our national station Jazz FM but only because it had a really nice chill-out and electronica show at night called the Late Lounge.

The Late Lounge got axed in favour of a love songs show, so I don't really tune in anymore.

Normally I will toot about what radio I'm listening to, but I'm going to turn it around.

What awesome, diverse, eclectic radio station is on the air where you live that I might not have heard of before? I want to increase my listening choice.

I love things like Resonance FM (London), 6 Music (UK-wide), Radio Nova and Fip (France). Not so keen on pop or newstalk channels - I like diverse music, the arts, interesting non-news discussions from round the world. #radio 📻

@megan Sorry for not understanding. Twitter sort of passed me by, and I don't do Facebook, so I'm not familiar with a lot of the terminology.

This is the first social-network I've really felt like I want to get involved with.

@federicomena @mayel Great! Another job with the pointless requirement of a university degree rather than, you know, skills and experience. That is a great way to exclude people from:
a) countries where university education isn't widespread
b) countries where university education is prohibitively expensive

But as long as the right Silicon Valley bros get in, who gives a shit!

@GreenandBlack Bradford has its moments and its slightly iffy areas, but nothing like the sort of constant, grinding menace you feel in very rich areas. You know that half the people here have made enough money to get an SK9 postcode by some very dodgy shit, and it's scary.

Meanwhile in poorer areas, everyone's just getting on with life and trying to get along as well as we can. I prefer it, even though I don't have a designer postcode.

@priryo Took me ages to get my insulation done for free, because it was already on their database as having thick insulation. Eventually found a local company who would send someone round to look and see that there literally wasn't any rather than doing "computer says no".

House was much warmer over the past winter, heating bills have been less, and even seems cooler in the summer now. :)

@GreenandBlack Where I live is called Bradford, it's really multicultural, I like it. It's the kind of area that people go "oh my god you live THERE how are you not dead yet?" The shops open on Christmas Day there, too.
