@wakest @profoundlynerdy Maybe, that did happen with work on account migration.

I'd imagine there may be some internal resistance from the higher-ups, with some hesitancy towards adopting it until the Diaspora ActivityPub implementation is incredibly robust and well-tested.

Even then, it may just run as a second-order protocol as a means to connect with non-Diaspora servers, and may stay that way for some time.

@profoundlynerdy Integrating Diaspora into the rest of the fediverse would increase the likelihood of active connections made between the people using it, and the people on Mastodon and Pleroma. This in turn could get people to work on the protocol for further improvements, and build new features on top of it.

It could have a positive impact on Diaspora and would remove a pretty significant barrier between the two halves of the Free Network.

TL;DR, the main people working in the project spent a lot of time developing their own improvements to the Diaspora protocol during the early days of ActivityPub discussions and were salty about the prospects of switching. @profoundlynerdy Honestly, all it really needs to do is adopt #ActivityPub, polish up the UI, and allow users to migrate between pods.

If they can support all of that, Diaspora can avoid complete stagnation.
