I have bad mood days rather more often than I think is normal, and they affect my thoughts and actions, and even what I say here on Mastodon. I don't always agree with what I said afterwards and I wonder what got into me.

@blaha @monerica Self-deception? Funny. That's how I push depressive truths about life away in general. It took me 20 years to figure that the reason I was depressed was because I hadn't learned to brainwash myself.

I know how to do it now, but not very reliably. I spontaneously reflect on my situation and can't help it. The true nature of things keep revealing themselves to me. The unfiltered truth of existing on this planet, with zero illusions, is not pleasant to behold.

@philcolbourn If you ever learn a third European language, you will find it strangely similar to Norwegian in terms of spelling. In fact, you'll discover that the weird ones in terms of spelling are English and French.

@sam No, because my hobby is everything except computers. I'm just very good at using computers as a tool, which is why I qualify for the job. Saying that anyone with good programming skills should become a developer is a bit like saying that anyone with good driving skills should become a Formula 1 driver.

I'm not even sure if I should be in the tech industry.

I mean, if I made every decision about what to work on, I wouldn't mind it, but that's a pipe dream.

I'm gradually coming to the realisation that:

1. Despite being bright, my head doesn't work well when I have to solve problems I don't personally care about.

2. This is probably the nicest job I will ever have, but I still don't want to be there.

3. I have had many developer jobs. I haven't liked a single one of them enough to stay for longer than a year, and it's been that way since 2008.

4. This should be my hobby, not my job.

5. I don't know what to do.

It's like there's one angry moustached dictator parasite and it keeps on infecting new heads of state.

Still questioning my choice of profession.
