I want to see proof that you can *not* encapsulate data in such a way that it becomes indecipherable after a certain point in time.
You can always make a copy of the extracted data that will survive forever, but if this is inconvenient to do, especially on a massive scale, it would still ensure that most such data is destroyed before anyone tries to extract it.
Inert data that expires on its own would be handy for many things.
@Ricardus For example, if feral humans tend to develop certain behaviours at a certain age, then that will tend to become a norm. Sometimes, these age stages are obvious, such as puberty. At other times, they're purely behavioural.
@Ricardus Opinions are also shaped by where you are in life. I was once in a place where I, too, thought that interests and age aren't connected, but then certain interests began to feel like they weren't right for me anymore because I basically felt too old for them, in the same way a 10 year old might feel too old for things that a 5 year old enjoys. It might be social pressure if a kid is a bit immature, but these ideas don't form in a vacuum. Natural averages help define them.
@Ricardus It becomes about it if you also remember that nature might be doing stuff to your brain long into adulthood. There are programs in there that determine how you develop over time. That's what I believe, anyway.
@sam From observation, it looks like more geeks than average are transgender. Famous examples include Wendy Carlos and Fran Blanche. There is also this strangely strong overlap between being a gay furry and being a geek.
@sam I was going to mention that some geeks might feel that the demands of masculinity and being a protector feels like a trap to them, and they might thus be more likely to come out as trans to escape that box.
I think teens would still be on Facebook if there were parts of it that adults couldn't access. Teens need autonomy from the grownups in the family. Facebook was never acceptable to the iGeneration (the teen children of older Millennials) because you couldn't hide from your parents and older relatives on there. Even if Facebook had made G+ style circles, what if you wanted to project an edgy image in your profile, and couldn't, because mum and dad could see it?
I'm forming a somewhat controversial theory about (male) geeks, intelligence and maturity:
Geeks are intelligent at an early age and retain a certain playful and rebellious nature far into adulthood. The price they pay for this is delayed emotional maturity, which is why they often maintain an interest in things like comics, cartoons and video games, and also why they often have problems finding a mate. Women instinctively seek a protector, and geeks still seek safety instead of providing it.
"Hvor skal vi sende disse røykerne til slutt da, hvis vi strammer inn mer? Skal de måtte gå i skogen, oppå et fjell eller ned på kaikanten for å få tatt seg en blås?" — Sylvi Listhaug, 2019
Jeg kan ikke sette fingeren på hvorfor, men jeg syns det ligger under verdigheten til en minister å uttale seg i slike vendinger. Det er ikke slik et dannet menneske snakker.
You can't make sushi cheaply. The REMA 1000 supermarket chain in Norway did it anyway. The result is a maki that consists of a gooey rice mass with small bits of yucky fish in it. Do not recommend.
