Hey, Mastoverse. Might anyone out there know of a better / more free (in money and freedom) alternative to #Eventbrite?
Events where a fee is collected can not be scheduled through Eventbrite without a paid membership. That's hard on non-profits, which is who I'm asking for (my LGBTQ+ running club). We just want to collect money for events where a cost is involved, and aren taking a cut of that for ourselves (we're using it to pay for the cost of a venue).

As Easter is coming up, I'd like to take a moment to say that bunnies are cute but also huge dickheads. They're rarely docile and cuddly and will absolutely destroy everything you love.
They live 10+ years, cost as much as a dog, and need a lot of time and attention. 75% of rabbits in the UK are neglected and many bought at Easter don't even make it to a year old.

Don't trust cloud services. One day Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr will be gone too. YouTube will shut down, and so will Google Drive, OneDrive and DropBox.

@tapaniraja The only thing you may want to reconsider is Debian, unless you have an attachment to it. It's a lot nicer to have all the latest software. So Fedora, or at least debian testing might be best.
I really love Fedora for its stability and refinement. I use the KDE spin.

@tapaniraja I think you'll be a lot happier with Linux. I got rid of Windows years ago and never looked back.
The stories I hear from others about running Windows (the way it works, the invasive telemetry, updates, re-installs, etc.), now sound totally ridiculous to me. I can't work out why anyone would use Windows.

@Are0h I don't agree. Martin Luther King and Gandhi are notable examples of people who stood up to and rose above incredible, widespread, outrageous, open bigotry and hatred with non-violent civil action. Throughout history, there were, and are, many other courageous individuals like them.
Violence (or advocating for it) clashed with their personal ethics and ideals. They weren't a part of the problem. They were a part of the solution.

@superruserr @saper There are other reasons for a merger like this as well. IBM can now fold in all of Red Hat's offerings with their own (economies of scope), and can more easily sell stuff to Red Hat's existing customers, and vice versa. In this way, the acquisition is a method of increasing sales and revenues between the two firms *and* collect *all* the profits from both of them.
Another benefit is vertical integration where Red Hat solutions are a part of IBM's offerings.
