And this is why I love #AMD and will support them with my money. Here's hoping that they also bring these advancements to the BSDs. #foss#floss#gpu#cpu
Facebook is trying to offer a really terrible Patreon-style service (which will take 30% of all income 😟 and permanent intellectual property rights to anything uploaded even if you leave the service 😱 ).
A number of people asked about free open alternatives. You might want to look at:
computer scientists in the 60s: "cool, we can do math with computers! And we have these amazing beautiful programming languages that can perform effortless recursion! I wonder what new vistas of thought this will open up!"
techbros in the 2010s: "we paid a bunch of Turkish people to generate 150 gigabytes of training data and shoved it into tensorflow. We'll put it on top of a JS app running in a virtual electron environment on the cloud. It's like uber but for marmosets."
Many apps like Holister, Expedia, & Air Canada use "session replay" to record screens to see how users interact, but @zackwhittaker found that this practice is rarely mentioned in privacy policies & can inadvertently expose sensitive data. https://techcrunch.com/2019/02/06/iphone-session-replay-screenshots/
@jsalvador@cr0n0s#Nagios is fantastic. I've been using it forever. Every once in a while I look at the shiny new thing everyone is raving about and usually find that it doesn't do everything Nagios does.
Setting up Nagios is also quite straightforward, though it may take a bit of getting used to.
Nagiosgraph is a quick way to get useful visualisations as well. The graphs aren't as pretty as graphana's but it's a lot faster to set up, and has much lower system requirements.
Hey, please help keeping @Gargron and all the other #mastodon instances being able to host without implementing #uploadfilter by calling your member of the European parliament and convincing them stand against #Article13 in the upcoming vote for the #copyright reform.
Destruction from climate change will be ‘worse, much worse, than you think’
> Nothing will be the same. Wherever we live, we will be flooded, engulfed by fires, plagued by new diseases, choked by toxic air, deprived of water or impoverished as a climate in chaos leads to an economy in meltdown.
