@jessmahler @aldersprig yeah, I grew up in northern Maryland (Carroll county) right by the border with Pennsylvania. A lot of people I knew from farther south in Maryland always said 'route' and 'root' differently in every context. It was very confusing when I was little.

@ekaitz_zarraga I think it is upside down on purpose yes. I think he was making a joke about Dodos being dead.

I just noticed a weird linguistic thing from where I grew up:

I say route and root the same way in some contexts, like I say 'Follow this route' the same as 'Follow this root', but in almost every other context I say 'route' (r-OW-t) differently than 'root' (with the 'oo' like in good).

This came up because I just wrote 'The router removes all the routes other than the one to the root' and I never noticed it before.

Last night Josh got us a VPS so it will be easier to work on developing Dodo and I have an actual reason to add authentication and stuff to what I am doing with TiddlyWiki.

Bah, too many projects.

@WelshPixie uploading just worked for me. But it was a tiny image file so there may be problems for bigger files or something.

This is the thing Josh has been using as the logo for Dodo. I was planning on making a set of SVG icons for it the way I did with the rat pie box stuff but I may keep this for a while.

My company does open source stuff but that doesn't mean we are your unpaid engineering department.

I believe that the email exchange that just happened can be summarised as:

them > Tell us your plans for development so we can plan. And are you adding these features? because we want you to work for us for free.

me > I ain't telling you shit, fuck you pay me

Is 'If you have specific needs we can discuss preparing a quote for the development' a sufficiently polite way to say 'fuck you, pay me' to someone who really sounds like they want ooktech to be their unpaid engineering department?

TIL canny edge detection is named after the guy who came up with it, it has nothing to do with uncanny. I am disappointed.

When the end of our current civilisation happens I am hoping that my background in both engineering and farming keeps some people from starving.

@zatnosk well, I happen to have spent the first 20ish years of my life making things grow and I am interested in this stuff to. Maybe it will have to be added to my list of projects :D

@zatnosk and seriously, ignore all the hype about spirulina. When it is dried it tastes and smells horrible. When it isn't dried it is pretty bland and doesn't smell like much. There were a few restaurants I heard about that grow their own and mix it into pasta and bread to make it more filling and nutritionally balanced.
