    i talked with some people about the gdpr here (germany) and was surprised what they thought about it, or rather, what they didn't know about the existing laws. They were wondering about how to implement the 'right to be deleted', but this isn't a new law in germany, it's been in the existing data protection laws for years.

    @dtluna @lain @ayy General experience with people (even pretty tech/compliance literate people) is that they think that #GDPR is a whole host of new principles, concepts and laws...

    In reality, while there are definitely a few innovations (#dataportability baby!) it is really just a stronger restatement of the existing law - with consistent enforcement mechanisms across the #EU.

    More hasn't changed, than has changed.

    @efraim I wouldn't want to accidentally fry this old gem. A Targus, as @ocdtrekkie suggested, would be less scary. And 40 USD is definitely worth it to be able to run unplugged. I managed to charge it *once* with a Dell supply, and it ran for 4h, so that's pretty impressive for a decade-old battery.

    The BIOS goes "*beep* *beep* I don't know what wattage this supply is and it probably won't charge your battery, please attach a 65W Dell supply or press F1 to continue".

    Which is kind of fair, because I think it is indeed a slim HP supply with like 30W or so.

    70 USD for a new power supply (I am using the HP power supply, which miraculously happened to fit, but it won't charge the battery) is far less terrible than I expected.
