Just to make clear, election advertising has always been misleading, but it's never before misled people in totally different ways simultaneously.

Posters, newspaper ads, TV spots etc are the same for everyone who sees them, and everyone has a common frame of reference about the candidate.

With online ads personalised down to the individual level, everyone sees something different, but they don't know this is happening. This makes it much easier to deceive voters, and to distort elections.

@PhotonQyv Similarly great one to learn which few people seem to know is that `cd -` will take you back to the directory you were in before, extremely useful for how short it is to type (various shells have even more powerful variants of this)

@akkartik @kragen @haitch @freakazoid Honestly, my advice here is to read two books: "Programming a Problem Oriented Language" teaches you how to write your own Forth compiler from scratch (bare metal on up). There are no assembly listings in the book, because it's pure guidance, but it was instrumental in me getting DX-Forth working at all.

racket-mode is now stricter about the TCP connections its command and logger servers accept: Only from localhost, and, supplying the same token used to launch the server process. https://github.com/greghendershott/racket-mode/issues/327#issuecomment-417826049

hello this is your computer speaking, this is a simulation and the reason for quantum uncertainty is because the engineers wrote an optimization where certain levels of detail are only calculated lazily through probabilistic approximations if and when necessary to compute

I guess folks should find other #Mastodon users that sign up at the same time so you can experience the emotional roller coaster together.

Otherwise you might be elated by how it feel like "old Twitter" while your friends realize "humans suck everywhere". And you definitely want to relapse together!

Remember, fair or ill, we're in this together, you beautiful, sucky humans!

    Playing card trivia:
Did you know that the 4 suits of cards come from the 4 forms of power ?
    * Diamonds -> Merchant (capitalist) class
    * Hearts -> The clergy, controlling the hearts of the people
    * Spades -> Spade = sword, the power of overt politics, military & the king
    * Clubs -> The power of the people, with primitive weapons (clubs) still able to project influence

The Ace was added in France to commemorate the revolutionary who overthrew the king...

"Galaksija" or Galaxy in Serbian, was a DIY computer from Yugoslavia, invented by Voja Antonić in 1983

It ran on a Zilog Z80 at 3Mhz and had 6K RAM and 8K ROM max. You built the whole thing, including the keyboard

Here's the complete listing from the Računari magazine (January, 1984) with the complete build instructions including the keyboard wiring (language is Serbian, I think)
    http://www.voja.rs/galaksija/0102.htm

    And the ROM-a B instruction set http://www.voja.rs/galaksija/ROM%20B%20Listing%20Scans/ROM_B_listing.htm

    IMO:

    a) indieweb actively does *not* want to be by developers, for developers
    b) it currently mostly is
    c) this is recognised, and there are initiatives for it not to be, https://micro.blog fitting into that category.
