I've read enough about how plums are a good fruit for a forest garden design, but I really can't remember the last time I ate a plum. do I actually dislike plums or have I just not given them a chance? I think I had plum pudding which I didn't like very much, but I guess I should just try a raw plum and see how it goes. I'm so adventurous.
played quite a bit of breath of the wild today. it's really, really good. foraging for food is so satisfying that I can ignore the main story for a long time.
snow tomorrow, and probably a lot of it. might be fun but it's also been nice to not have to shovel yet this winter. I hope its not the wet heavy stuff that makes me want to die.
finished reading Edible Forest Gardens Volume 1. for a book entirely about ecological theories, it was surprisingly engaging. now, onto volume 2 which covers how to put the theory into practice.
Here's to everybody who won't have good #holidays this year.
* shout out to those who can't be with friends & loved ones, or who have none * shout out to every fifth wheel * shout out to those around people committed to misunderstanding them * shout out to those who put up w/ignorant comments when prioritizing self-care * shout out to those dealing with flareups of anxiety, mood disorders, cognitive dysfunction * shout out to everybody who has to keep a lid on something today.
for xmas he gave us all dolphin whistles (his product that he sells to gift shops) with our names scrimshawed into them. the vibe down here is just so different.
the thing I really like about the houses here in key west is that all the vegetation is so densely planted next to them. you can barely even see some of the single-story houses from the street. the houses are so close to each other, yet it can feel like you're sitting in your own private jungle.
