I've been interested in writing a Ren'Py game for some time, and wanted to work on something goofy that could make people laugh.
RMS Dating Simulator (Github)
This is a fun way to motivate myself to do something with the engine, and I get to write an interactive story and make the art for it, too. I honestly think this could be a really fun collaborative project - it'd be fun to brainstorm with people about ways to make the story better, or funny things that could happen here.
A visual novel involving Richard Stallman (also known as RMS) of the Free Software Foundation as well as the GNU project. This is inspired by numerous dating simulator games found in the Newgrounds.com community
Licensed under the GPLv3, with CC-BY-SA 4.0 for any content that comes from it. Currently, there are no art assets developed yet, and the interaction is little more than a few conversation loops. However, I hope to take this much farther, and seek to tell a real story of some kind with it.

Enabled #ActivityPub on my Hubzilla server today. Curious as to what I can currently do with it.
-
Personally, I'm a very big fan of Enspiral. Great people, great organization.

Congrats!

Sometime early this morning / late last night, I became an uncle. Congrats to Beau Tilley on his evolution into fatherhood!
I'm so proud of everything you've accomplished and everything you've become, little brother.

single-sign on, cross-site authentication, nomadic identity, etc) starting on a blank page
[template]zen[/template] it's as simple as that... Won't work without hubzillla though...
-
I'm still looking for a project that implements a framework or CMS that does hubzilla without hubzilla. i.e. not just a skin, but just using hubzilla features (single-sign on, cross-site authentication, nomadic identity, etc) starting on a blank page, maybe with wordpress compatible themes, etc
-
Excelent, thank you for that @Sean Tilley !

There are some issues with uploaded photos from newer iphones, which now have higher pixel densities than most sites have available php memory. If this is affecting you, install imagemagick on your server and visit your admin/site page and tell it where to find the imagemagick 'convert' binary and you should be back in the saddle.

Newest version of Clarity theme now includes support for the experimental new notification system in the dev branch of #Hubzilla. Took a little poking around the latest commits to understand why it was set up that way, but overall it works great.
My next goal will be to consider updating my widget layout, as I believe some proper housekeeping is in order. Also, it looks like my uploader is broken, so I'll have to look into that. :P

It's finally here! A million thanks to @Mike Macgirvin for sharing his many words of wisdom.
Got Zot — Mike Macgirvin – We Distribute – Medium
Mike Macgirvin is a personal friend, and a force to be reckoned with. Living on a farm in the hills of Australia, he has quietly spent his days carving out an elaborate system from scratch, doing the bulk of the work himself.
Over the past decade in particular, he has pushed the boundaries of a next-generation communication platform, restlessly experimenting and taking notes, often inventing his own solutions to complex problems.
This interview is the first part of our interview series, Faces of the Federation.

@platano
More protocol mess, I presume!
Notifications and how this relates to mentions isn't spelled out in the specs and every project does them a bit different. I'll compare yours (I have an example in front of me from your last comment) and try to match it after I choke down some more coffee. I think I see something that changed from the way Status.Net used to do this.
-
@mike Oh, so one of the several protocols used by OStatus just happens to fit the job of subscribing to Diasporans... Thanks a lot Mike!! Yes, it's kinda cool, although not perfect. It's a pity it doesn't work the other way round (followig GS people from D*), though. They don't even see my comments to their posts, etc.
BTW, I didn't receive any notification for your comment, I just saw it on my timeline cause I'm following you. It shows my blue username link (withouth the preceding "@"), though. More protocol mess, I presume!
-
@platano. Diaspora uses a pubsubhubbub service provided by Google to allow folks to subscribe to your Diaspora public feed. GNU-Social uses this mechanism to follow your public content. As you've noted media handling is buggered. Most OStatus projects separate media from content. Diaspora feeds do not separate media from content but instead merges them together.
-
@dsh Hey, Sean. Recently I realized that I can follow Diaspora accounts from GNU social... Their posts don't arrive uninjured here (e.g. sometimes no pictures, etc.) but it works somehow. What made that happen?

This song pierces my heart. I cried my eyes out when I initially listened to the first 30 seconds or so. I was honestly speechless at the purity of the guitar's whine. For some reason, it makes me think of beauty in spite of all-encompassing sadness.
Props to my friend Michael Kent for getting me into this guy.

I'm your hero? Aw, shucks. ^_^ I'm pretty fond of you myself.
In truth, I quite like Hubzilla's quiet trickle over the deluge that happens in other places. I broke all of my Hubzilla contacts out based on what network they're on, so that I can jump between slow and fast-paced. I'm trying to get back into long-form posts, to make up for what I perceive to be shortcomings in microbloging.
At the same time, though, I wish everyone would just use Hubzilla...
