RT @deportablediz@twitter.com: A lot of people are angry at the idea of "anti-homeless architecture" such as spikes on benches, window ledges, underpasses etc.
But there's a form of anti-homeless architecture I recommend and I hope it catches on. It involves a roof, plumbing, electricity, beds and heating.
“I got into the web because I liked the democracy of it,” says Kalbag, who has just published a book titled Accessibility for Everyone… “I want to be able to be in a society where I have control over my information, and other people do as well … I think we have to have technology that serves everybody – not just rich, straight, white guys.”
keeping my eyes on students often being exploited, without proper authorship or compensations, and professors in power "take the burden" to be the lead editor. 😂
getting to the point where i feel the most productive and least stressed when writing Go. i know if i'm honest with myself though, i'm still far far faster in javascript, but the maintenance burden just ain't worth it anymore.
Strangest thing. I happened to be walking through one of London's financial districts and there was a guy on a bullhorn promoting a #cryptocurrency (Steem). The crowd gathered around seemed both interested and entertained.
Is professional notetaking a real thing? If so, do conference organizers ever hire them to create summarized reports on conferences that go beyond posting PowerPoint presentations and take less time than watching a lengthy video?
[Do] I reject all authority? Far from me such a thought. In the matter of boots, I refer to the authority of the bootmaker; concerning houses, canals, or railroads, I consult that of the architect or the engineer. For such or such special knowledge I apply to such or such a savant. But I allow neither the bootmaker nor the architect nor savant to impose his authority upon me.
@strypey It also reminds me when around the time of the Heartbleed bug, it was found that there was only one developer maintaining OpenSSL full time, and the foundation had a budget of $5000 per year.
@strypey I'm definitely happy the team will be able to continue focusing on developing Matrix full time, but we need better ways to fund #FOSS. Such funding usually comes attached with expectations and power in the hands of investors, rather than the developers and users.
2018, when a pretty well established free software platform, with strong (non-blockchain) decentralised protocols that can power any number of apps - real internet infrastructure shit, is happy to get some crumbs from some ICO that itself is an app powered by Ethereum...
@datatitian Sounds great! I'll be popping into this event tomorrow evening and probably a couple more times while I'm there: https://www.darvoz.org/ If it interests you as well we could meet there.
