One of my favorite things about ES2015 is destructuring + object literals + argument default values.

It makes passing data around a lot easier -> shorter functions -> more maintainable/readable code. E.g.:

getPixels = ({ width = 1280, height = 1024 } = {}) => width * height;

I can call it like so:

getPixels(); // returns 1280*1024

or like so:

const width = 1024, height = 768;
getPixels({ width, height });

or of course:

getPixels({ width: 1024, height: 768 });

Installed patchwork today to get onto #scuttlebutt - "a decent(ralised) secure gossip platform" - and it's looking very decent.

(built on electronjs, hmmm I have to check that out too!)

If you're not familiar with #PWA, it means Mastodon now has it's own mobile app, with features you'd expect from an app store app like push notifications, but its powered by your browser so you don't have to download anything or grant any new device permissions, and it has all of the features of the desktop browser Mastodon experience

Do you know a human language? Do you want Mastodon to be available in that language? There's this website where you can look at English words and phrases and put your language's words and phrases into it and save it and then it'll end up in the next Mastodon release. Probably in 3-4 days max. That website is:

I think we need to redefine "good cooperator". I think to get the ball rolling on any effort we have to embrace temporary hierarchies but find formal ways to inscribe their limits and enforce transparency. I'm in a situation now where too much institutional knowledge got built up in one person and that person is now holding way too much power despite no formal title or responsibilities.

@clayton we're open to everyone involved or interested in the topics of cooperative ownership, democratic decisionmaking collaboration, open source, decentralization etc.. I'm not aware of any "growth plan", but feel free to recommend social.coop to anyone interested in at least one of the above :)

Experimenting with #puppeteer to script headless Chromium. Still feels a bit hackish, but I am able to execute my freeyourstuff.cc plugin code (for content liberation from proprietary platforms), which should be nice for automated testing + potentially command-line tools for content export.
