So we started shipping WebRender in Firefox a few weeks ago. Completely new rendering engine written in rust, big departure from how we approached rendering before. We are gradually enabling it for different hardware/OS configurations and a couple of million users have it now.

What's kind of blowing my mind, having worked on 3 large-ish rewrites, is that since WebRender shipped, telemetry has reported less crashes per user with WebRender than without.

This is *not* how big rewrites usually go.

@marcus @zatnosk One of the things we'll be looking to do is cooperate more with the whole Fediverse (ie all the other implementations of AP) in order to be as cross-compatible as possible (where possible).

We are, for now, staying connected with Upstream Masto, but may cherry pick out changes that this (Florence) community really doesn't actually want.

We are however not foreign to the idea of a hard-fork further down the line.

This is a good post, although I find it a bit odd that changes to V8/Chrome are discussed as if they represent the entire web, and Chrome is the only browser you should care about.

Two things going on in parallel:
- outlining the activitypub.dev site
- writing `apcore` (90% of an ActivityPub server) to make it easier for me & others to quickly write different federated projects. With http/https/database/sessions/templates/static files/c2s/s2s/etc all configurable and ready for app specific layer/handlers. First one for me will be apBB, simple bulletin board / forum.
