You know, mobile operating systems are an incredibly clever move on behalf of intermediaries who are afraid of an open and community-managed web.
Standards-based organizations like the W3C are (if I understand correctly) overwhelmingly dominated by business interests already, but even *that* is to inconvenient for Apple, Microsoft, and Google right now.
Instead, they're each working to build walled gardens with faster-paced development at the expense of 100% vendor lock-in.

Regarding contracts, when freelancing I like to draft the contract when possible (rather than having the client propose a contract that is geared only towards their interests, and then having to argue each point). Tools like https://www.hellobonsai.com/ can help

@mayel @paws +1 to not working full-time for one employer. I do four days, and would ideally do three. As Mayel says, there's nothing like the autonomy and freedom of being independent (apart from, perhaps, being part of a co-op, which I also am...)

I wouldn't say that's stupid!
For me though, while I might gain security with a "normal" job, I can't bear to loose the autonomy and freedom of staying independent.
Also, it might be a false sense of security, anyway as whenever the employer decides they've juiced you enough, you are back to square one...

Following up on the #github fiasco, maybe on top of only using #FOSS software, and federating as much as possible along #selfhosting, what we really need is agent-centric naming and #identity system (also to allow for nomadic identity for #Mastodon and the fediverse).
