awhile back i’d been wanting to find good uses for old stuffed animals and i thought i’d share what i learned:

animal shelters may take them for their orphaned babies, and as doggy toys.

fire/ambulance departments may take animals for kids they treat or rescue.

homeless and DV shelters may take animals for their kids— and even their adults with PTSD.

hospitals sometimes have donation closets for kids.

obviously your region may vary.

back in my grandma's day you could just cut into your wealthy husbands brake lines. now you gotta hack into his self driving car. learn to code kids

Regardless of whether you think participating in electoral politics is necessary, their insufficiency is indisputable.

this is why the collective and the (inter-)personal will always co-exist. pre-empting one or the other wholesale (or selectively, based on biases, branding, opportunism, etc.) is how things start getting fascistic or otherwise totalitarian. that's mostly the right's wheelhouse, but there's nothing that says it can't start creeping in on the left as well.

fucking this up is actually ableist *in general*. the spectrum includes people who have pronounced social impairments.

asserting otherwise -- not as an excuse, but as an acknowlegement of actual things -- is the anti-autistic version of kicking out someone's cane because John McCain was a rat bastard

community standards around behavior, interpersonal dynamics and group dynamics don't exist in isolation from each other

also, assume good intent and "check for good faith" aren't necessarily the same thing. they should be, but the former gets used as a dog whistle for free speech absolutism, especially by techies
