How come every fire safety documentary I see talks about how hungry fire is, and how quickly things burn, but I can't get a fire in my fireplace going to save my life?

@farhan you should consider filing a bug. It may or may not rank high on their priorities but at least the bug is recorded.

The problem with telling people you don't drink is that when you give them a bottle of wine, they know it's just you re-gifting something you have zero use for.

Solution: don't tip your hand. Pretend to drink when invited. Live a lie. It's worth it to retain the luxury of cheapskate gifts.

@efraim yeah , i think there's a strong argument for that. I think metadata ideally would make that seem like something from the stone age, but apparently metadata is sufficiently inconvenient that your solution is totally reasonable and even preferable.

@nemoudeis I really like that take. Honestly, the most I've ever thought about what money represents is as a highly inaccurate and grossly flawed abstraction of labour. I love the idea that it's actually just an abstraction of power points.

@gorkon @murph I'm using Tusky. I was using Fedilab or Mastalab or something, but it stopped working one day (probably the phone's fault; it's a work phone and not entirely managed by me) so I just installed Tusky and moved on.

@kensanata @freakazoid For me it's the 90% rule. Emacs does 90% of what I need, but for that silly 10% of what it doesn't, I like having a proper wm or desktop for. (And as long as I have the luxury to maintain bias toward the 10%, i figure it's harmless to do so. )

That said, i haven't actually tried EXWM so maybe I'll convert once I do....
