@freakazoid Mozilla walked away from FirefoxOS on mobile. I had a Firefox phone, and it was good-not-great, could have been an amazing alt OS to the Big 2.
I think they do best when focusing on making a good browser.
@farhan yeah, what @ZoeyGlobe said. I was only listing the appealing features, not necessarily comparing. It's tough to compare distro features unless you're looking for something specific. They all basically reduce down to "it's Linux".
Intel's recent community efforts around Clear Linux -- and even certain touches they've implemented to the installer -- have given me the strong belief that the company is looking to serve people just like me in the near future. So I asked the burning question directly, and Intel just answered it.
Raspberry Pi 4 is here! A new version of the $35 computer features a 1.5GHz Arm chip and support for dual-HDMI 4K displays, Gigabit Ethernet, and much more. https://opensource.com/article/19/6/raspberry-pi-4
@pokey@starshiptux@thaj@x1101 good point. I nearly lost my Leatherman Wave when I absentmindedly had it in carry-on luggage. Luckily they let me step out of line to call a Zoomy (nz less-evil uber) to take just my Leatherman back home for me.
Also calling the Wave "everyday carry" is a little funny because it must weigh a kilo at least. You gotta have yer suspenders on to carry that thing around in your pocket.
@kev@joseph it's the comments plugin for grav (that's how it identifies itself in the README). I have some custom theming and security mods on it to help fight spam, and so far it has been treating me well.
Cons: requires customisation to fix wonky display order (as i recall, it displays most recent first, so threading is basically backwards), and there's no actual threading: to reply to a previous comment, you just have to @ the person you're replying to.
@starshiptux@thaj@pokey@x1101 i wasn't asked, and i have no kids, but luckily that's all the qualification i need to hand out advice on the internet. I'd look at leatherman; they have some nice "everyday carry" utility knives (like the skeletool). Why get her a knife when you can get her a knife and a screwdriver and a scissor and plyers?
Caveat: no idea if these are suitable for small hands.
