    @brandon How so? Firefox and wget are both using the same DNS servers.

    I can't find a good answer on the plain old boring Internet, so I'll try Mastodon.

    Why do I get faster download speeds with wget compared to Firefox? No tricks; just download [some big file] and watching download speed: 100kbps-ish in Firefox. Same download with wget, 1Mbps, peak 2Mbps.

    I've noticed this over the past couple of years, chalked it up to randomness. But it seems reliable.

    @Jason_Dodd It took my deal 3 months to go through. Aug 16's relatively quick by comparison.

    @garpu I see from the linuxquestions.org thread that you've marked it solved.

    My only suggestion was going to be to update the kernel and/or the Nvidia driver. Kind of a cop-out answer, but with Nvidia that's kind of all I know to do.

    @Jason_Dodd With insightful reviews like these, I'm puzzled you don't have a review blog. (It would be a really small blog, too, so probably cheap to host!)

    @Jason_Dodd I've played that one. It's "fun".

    Quotes around fun because I see that it seems to work well in a group session, it's just not really my cup o' tea.

    @xurizaemon I had a job where we used that. I admire what ReST is trying to do (give more structure to Markdown) but in the end I think Commonmark is the right choice.

    Haven't played around with Asciidoc much yet, though.

    @samathy I'll add: contribute whatever it is that you do to open{source,culture}. Example: my partner draws in Inkscape compulsively, and then offers the work as CC-BY-SA so anyone in any open community can make use of it. I think that's a meaningful contribution, but it's adjunct to the fact that it's being done anyway.

      from Opensource.com
      How do you usually copy all or part of a text file when working on the Linux desktop? Chances are you open the file in a text editor, select all or just the text you want to copy, and paste it somewhere else. That works. But you can do the job a bit more efficiently at the command line using the xclip utility. xclip provides a conduit between commands you run in a terminal window and the clipboard in a Linux graphical desktop environment.

    Oh my gosh. Too many mark up languages in my head. I've found no less than three different URL syntaxes in one document I'm working on.

    [url](path)

    <a href=...>
