@keithzg I assume it's someone from the (probably illegal) rooming house across the street, but maybe I'm making unfair assumptions, because none of the packages I've had left on my front step for often hours before I get home from work have ever gone missing (with one possible exception, a couple of years ago, but we never received delivery confirmation so it may have been lost in transit).

Someone stole my xmas projector light last night. I can't say I'm entirely surprised, as petty theft is common in the neighbourhood, but I thought if I made it secure enough that you couldn't just grab it and run, I'd be OK.

But they took the time to melt the heavy duty zip ties I'd used to secure it to my railing. This probably only took 30 seconds, but that's often enough to eliminate crimes of opportunity.

I hope the person really needed the $5 or $10 they'll get at the pawn shop. 😑

@bgcarlisle Update the "name" field in your email account, so people will see that your email is from Dr. Carlisle before they even open it?

@goldest Not explicitly, but...it kinda is. I'm not an expert, by any means, because I don't go out of my way to listen to it, but I have heard a number of a Christian pop and rock songs that are basically horny love songs with the typical object of desire replaced with Jesus.

Today is December 13. That's 13/12 to much of the world—ACAB day. A good day to reflect on why all cats are beautiful, all cars are barricades, and all cops—regardless of the marital status of their parents—are mercenaries in the service of oppression.

My brother is engaged to a woman of Asian descent. She doesn't drink, I don't think. Everyone else in my family does, included brother. They're coming for Christmas. There will probably be a more-than-usual amount of alcohol consumption. My brother framed this as "what white people do" and I'm very weirded out by that phrasing.
