Me: yeah and the issues are all about software stuff and not emotional drama!

@bvtsang
Maybe art you like can be like a brand subsidiary that you aquired because it was popular with the kids but now you don't really know what to do with it so you will probably just ruin it like everything Yahoo ever bought because it was what rhe kids were using...
Actually. Maybe just forget that analogy.
@snailix
I'm so glad you joined!
Periwinkle snail chilling on the rocks of the intertidal zone. Those little blue animals (in this photo around 2.5 mm in length) are ‘seashore springtails’ - found across most of the world. When I looked back at this picture I realized how much they pop out, they look photoshopped 😂 That pop is from their cool blue ish grey color.
Not sure if the snail i photographed is a common or rough periwinkle - I saw plenty of both species! I also saw yellow periwinkles while exploring the tide pools.
since everyone liked that hydroid post so much
here's more underwater pics I got on my new camera
can I get a boost for the often ignored but extremely ecologically important freshwater mussel? here, the frilly bits you see are the siphon which brings water into the body to pass over the gills and for the mouth to extract food like zoo and phytoplankton
Attached please find one (1) good boy.
It's really hard for @TheMysteriousEm to go places with me cuz I always pick up random bugs on the pavement
This dude was SO HUNGRY tho so I helped him get a snack and then we found a garden for him.
@weirdwriter
Oh it's so good it's about a trucker searching for her missing wife. Kind of sf/weird/horror.
@mudl @frankiesaxx I'm the admin and proprietor of laserdisc.party, we're super small but we are a movie instance (though I'm thinking of pivoting to "mostly movies, also general shenanigans" model). DM me if you want an invite!
@derek_g
Oh good to know! I'm actually "asking for a friend" - I'm trying to put together a curated list of good instances for my friends based on interests. I have writing.exchange and scicomm.xyz so far... but I have lots of movie and horror friends though too.

I think that's why companies who support time and resources (for example) for coding on pet/hobby projects are ultimately benefiting themselves even if the project has no value for them
@vfrmedia
Yep yep to all that. I think admin fatigue will be a big one especially for small instances, where it feels like the effort isn't worth it for the size/activity of the user base.
Guy on Twitter: what's a 'mansplainer'?
Me, a consumate mansplainer: a person who explains things to men
@weirdwriter
I guess you've probably listened to Alice Isn't Dead? That's my fave #lgbt #podcast
