I've said it before, but people constantly surprise me here. you think they're staid, maybe even a little boring at first. then they turn into bona fide edgelords. it's fucking great.

@dirb @delores @roko this is true, though. you "see" more than you prob should as a smoker. where I am now, I see Aurora borealis more times due to smoke breaks than for any reason. but I used to walk everywhere when I was still living near da big shitty, and shit did I see things I wish I hadn't (again, for prob just that reason alone).

like the options out there, but currently leaning toward a used XR650L if I can find a keeper for a not terrible price. I think I've been kinda dumb for not hunting around for a ride sooner.

@roko thanks for the encouragement! I'm def overdue on something, and realised after chatting here that even a cheap pavement bike won't bring as much joy as a decent dual sport. will keep you posted.

@roko I don't mind wrenching, but will admit available time can get pretty tight for this kind of thing. the 750 seems like it was well-maintained but has been ridden a lot (40k miles), which is at least positive in the sense that it prob didn't spend much time languishing in a garage.
the XR also looked cared for, but need more info. not as good a deal in any case, but maybe wiggle room to negotiate.
I've little experience with offroading bikes, and would be game for any good, reliable jap bike.
hmm. atm, only an old '92 DR650 up for ~1900 US. details spare. but a 2006 KLR650 for ~2400 w/22k odo. shit ... I might have to do my due diligence ...
