@lnxw48a1 the whole only Caucasians can be racist is laughable. A large part of Asian culture is based upon the northerners being superior to the southerns due to dark skin. It is, in 2018, very Victorian. Of course not all Asians and asian-americans are racist but Wendy's Vietnamese parents sure are and they are themselves the subject of Chinese, korean, and Japanese racism. I guess it's not literally worse, but racism by perceived others feels so much...I dunno what the word is.
@elacheche you are not the only one. There is a down side but you may not notice: performance. Obviously you could run shit plugins that are less performant but we usually consider by_ssh to be "the worst". If you don't have the server overloaded though, two thumbs up. :)
I suppose I can say this now without really being biased, although I am still an employee. Plenty of people at !nagios really do care about open source. Nagios does, of course, employ people to work on and support the entirely #GPL Nagios Core, which is completely usable (and as far as performance is concerned, better than the commercial product anyway)
#NRPE is also completely GPL and used by our commercial product and developed and supported by the company. The plugins are open source (licenses on github).
The #NCPA licensed is designed specifically to prevent #icinga and icinga wannabes from using it (op5, naemon...possibly others) and so that's a bit of open washing, but the code is all out there and you can hack on it for your own needs.
I wish someone would extent the olive branch, and there is still some cross discussion in back-channels. It's not very much, but it's there. Maybe, someday someone can bridge the gap.
@craigmaloney would you be interested in moving to #Cincinnati or #California? That's where Perforce has offices other than #TwinCities. I don't know if before when we spoke it was moving was a no-go, or just moving here. We also have offices abroad (UK, Finland, Australia), but I figure that's probably not happening.
