@Ninjatrappeur Atom (RSS) is not dying. Please don't try and reinvent it. Instead get back into promoting it. And if necessary writing conversion utilities to generate feeds. Even if it's only for your own use.
There is some argument for a translation of Atom into JSON and people do try to do this every so often. It's not a bad idea. But it needs a proper effort to build the standard, tools, libraries and readers to get it off the ground.
Some things that may still be growing exponentially with short doubling periods (<10 years).
- Bits and bytes being generated per month.
- Energy consumption of datacentres
- Energy consumption of computing devices
- Storage shipped and implemented (spinning disks and non-volatile memory)
- Phone shipments
- Total processing power in Mips, Flops or whatever.
- Solar & Wind power installations in name plate capacity
- Plastic production?
Others? Numbers?
