Alexa is laughing at people, and now all the Oculus Rift headsets are broken because a certificate expired.
I'm moving from smug to outright pointing-and-laughing now.

@extinctsnakes omg
> Everyone whoβs on the βNo way am I putting one of these listening devices in my houseβ side of the fence is nodding their head with a smug look on their face right now.

Yup. So smug.
Now, look, I'm no fan of cryptocurrency, and think many of the people involved are utter fucking douchebags, but dosing someone's food with weed is a dick move no matter who they are.

Amazon Echos are randomly laughing at people.

Nope. No metaphor here.
Aw, dang, I missed the thundersnow 'cause I was eating lunch in the cafeteria downstairs.
Well, itβs right proper coming down now. Damn snow.
@even_more_damned_muteKi BALLS ARE STORED IN THE BALLS.
BALLCEPTION
Nobody's gonna get why this is actually funny unless they're an opera nerd. I'm not even an opera nerd, but I do get it... I mean, I made it.
Stop what you're doing right now and go read Mike Monteiro's piece for Fast Co.

If you're a UI, UX designer, or a programmer, or a software engineer, or anyone who touches anything related to user interaction and design, read it again.

@jk It's not weird, but you shouldn't have to.
Ooh, the new Deadpool trailer is cool. (CW: It's a super-hero movie trailer, and it has all that sort of stuff in it. Plus naughty words, 'cuz, y'know, Deadpool.)
Snow? S-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
@swizzard @KitRedgrave It had issues posting photos for me.
Uh, so Elon's car is just gonna be in orbit? Is it a stable orbit?
If the car's orbit decays, is it going to burn up in the atmosphere? Is it in an orbit that's not going, say, crash into a GPS satellite, or something?
@Cocoron Did you hurt Jack's fee-fees?
@KitRedgrave Yeah, that's my biggest issue with it. I should switch back to Amaroq...
@baldur I'll also never forget the iBook G4 I got, which ran like a tank, even after the fan died.
Or, for that matter, my first PC (a 486Dx with DOS 5 and Windows 3.1), or even the 15" MacBook Pro I use now.
But fundamentally, they're tools that I want to be tools first. The emotional attachment comes from the using, not from the UX.
I actually wrote about something similar with regards to Smartphones a while back: https://www.sanspoint.com/archives/2016/09/10/well-worn-iphones-upgrade-cycles/
@baldur Well, I don't mean to say that I don't have any emotional connection to my computing devices. I'm never going to forget the day I switched from Linux to my first Mac (G4 mini).
Getting photos off my digital camera in Linux was a huge pain in the ass. On the Mac, I plugged in the camera, iPhoto opened, and it asked if I wanted to import photos. I almost cried. (Mostly thinking of all the time I wasted...)
