This "new" machine will replace the NUC since Chromium OS is the best experience I had but it still doesn't support YouTube TV π’ and otherwise I use this monitor, keyboard, and mouse as a second "terminal" to my usual desktop but Windows 10 is a little wonky. Windows is designed for you to be able to observe all displays simultaneously, which I can't, and I swear it moves windows between displays on its own sometimes.
I'll be using an existing keyboard, monitor, mouse, and speakers.
I could have saved $40 by getting the 860 EVO instead of the Pro, but drive speed is such a bottleneck. I hope my $40 isn't totally lost to bus saturation.
As for the UPS it's as much an experiment as anything. I like the metal case and that it uses a standard battery.
I successfully desoldered a speaker from my uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
I ordered another UPS (APC SC420 (hio)) to see if I can do it again!
I wanted a UPS for the Xeon refurb that's coming. I hope to also get one exclusively for the modem and router so that I could keep using wifi during a power interruption. Right now the server and all the networking equipment share a UPS which is probably sensible but the server is going to drain it very quickly.
@jasondclinton yes it works on Chrome OS lol. I'm just annoyed that I've had every OS on this old NUC and Chromium OS is the only one that's acceptably responsive. But I do watch YouTube TV sometimes so I would like it to work π
