I’m now at a point where I consider apps that don’t offer a foolproof / build-in way to keep them in sync across devices as fundamentally broken

@katherinethedickgirl Changing the @ of an account indeed isn’t possible. The only thing you can do is exporting your following / mute / block / … lists from your current account, then delete the account and reimport these lists into a new account.

One thing that I tend to forget from time to time is that technology can also be a massive force of good

I’ve just realized that there are almost no independent bakers / butchers in my town anymore

While I’ll miss some of these indie businesses, some of the mid-sized companies that now run these stores luckily really care about quality and sustainability

And if this means that employees no longer have to physically ruin themselves because they couldn’t afford helpful machinery and jobs can be preserved because they’re now competitive with big companies, maybe this isn’t even that bad

@toxision Da ich die Funktion bisher noch nie gestest habe weiß ich ehrlich gesagt nicht ob die Push-Nachrichten das wirklich direkt sagen oder ob man nur darauf hingewiesen wird das etwas passiert ist wofür man interessiert. Aber ja, wenn es ersteres ist will man sich vielleicht nicht über alles benachrichtigen lassen 😉

The following works for me:

- Pixelfed: Enter the URL of the Mastodon account into the website field
- Mastodon: Enter the URL of the Pixelfed account into one these URL fields for the profile page

(no need to add ‚rel=„me“‘ or other things to the links)

@manchmalderfieber Das ist auch nicht schlecht ;) Zusammen mit immer weiter steigenden Grundgebühren und keiner Unterstützung von Apple/Google Pay wird das ganze leider immer unattraktiver. Eigentlich schade da meine Erfahrungen mit der Sparkasse ansonsten gut sind.

An sich geht es darum, dass man sich über verschiedene Bewegungen auf dem Konto oder wenn man ins Minus rutscht benachrichtigen lassen kann.

Given my low-level usage of RSS I’m increasingly wondering whether Mastodon + this nice RSS to ActivityPub service (https://bots.tinysubversions.com/convert/) could replace my current RSS set-up

Sure, it would be a very minimalistic set-up and it doesn’t offer all the functionalities of a dedicated RSS reader, but maybe it would be good enough for me

Not having to manage another eco-system (RSS apps, synchronization across apps, …) is very tempting
