The glue of Twitter's network effect, right here. This is laziness, but it's very common. People will stay with a product even when they hate it, because their peers use it.

@cereal @noyoushutthefuckupdad @augustus I think Bob Rock did the best he could with a band that were a complete shambles; that it also ended his reign of Metallica was just the cherry on top.
The moment that mix of Master of Puppets appeared with the St. Anger snare I knew it had cemented it's place in history. In conversation from thespinning.top permalink -

@cereal @noyoushutthefuckupdad @augustus Did you ever hear the band that did the covers? I don't normally like this sort of thing but they did a decent job of making that shitpile listenable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTXRyCpFzHY In conversation from thespinning.top permalink Attachments

@dtluna John Oliver is an interesting guy. For me, at least. He's revered in the US - my adopted home - but I cannot fucking stand him. He has the same structure as Ben Elton; this kind of blokey parochial delivery, as if he's your friendly Brit down the pub.
It's all bollocks.
He's an oxbridge-educated boy; a product of an absolutely elitist system. He's about as sincere as Patrick Bateman. In conversation from thespinning.top permalink -

This is a good example of the party line on Gamergate, which seems to have enjoyed some sort of resurgence recently, not from GG itself but from the usual suspects that suddenly consider it a cultural 'moment'.
Like all good lies, all of these accusations are rooted in some truths. It's total bullshit, nevertheless.

@maiyannah It's a little too close to the Church of the Apocalypse rhetoric that characterises climate.
Abundant energy should be the answer, not 'stop doing this'. Human endeavour in most things involves energy. In conversation from thespinning.top permalink -

@maiyannah I think the saddest thing is that they're not even selling themselves for this garbage. It's an ideology they're already indoctrinated in. In conversation from thespinning.top permalink -
