@mase estreng genommen war es kein Problem - ich musste nur manuell eingreifen. Dazu gab es aber Anweisungen während des Updates, was zu tun ist. :-)

Most of my Debian Stretch servers are now upgraded to Debian Buster 🙂

It worked like a charm on most machines. I had to take manual action just twice, when there were problems with PostgreSQL (ver. 9.6 => 11) and zfs-dkms.

Da fällt mir das gerade besonders eindrucksvoll auf:

Die Systeme, die sich auf beide CPUs verteilen, sind bei apt Operationen elendig langsam, während die VMs, die auf nur einer CPU laufen, deutlich, deutlich flotter waren. Mehr als doppelt so schnell.

@alex Jepp, vermutlich. Ich habe keine Messungen gemacht, aber Nextcloud fühlt sich deutlich "snappier" an, wenn ich sie auf nur einer CPU betreibe und dem System den ganzen Cross-CPU-Memory-Sharing-Shit erspare ;-)

Aber in nem LXD-Container.
Hab ich das vllt versprochen?

Ich bin nicht sicher, ob es so klug ist, das jetzt noch anzufangen. Die offizielle Anleitung ist eigentlich ganz okay, und meine veraltet nur.

Wenn es Lücken gibt, sollte da vllt lieber die offizielle Anleitung erweitert werden.

Sometimes I do stupid things. Like overprovisioning my host's CPUs by creating an 16 vCore VM on a 2x8 cores host.

Just because you have two CPU sockets doesn't mean you should use them both for a single VM. Doing that means more complex memory sharing during CPU operations, which creates a significant performance penalty.

Now with only 8 cores attached, my Nextcloud VM runs faster than with 16 vCores. 🙂

@nipos hmm, das weiß ich nicht. Kann sein, dass das erst später nachgereicht wurde. Ich habe es jetzt zum ersten Mal gesehen. Kann aber auch daran liegen, dass ich gerade einen günstigen Zeitpunkt erwischt habe, sodass die Leute gleich ihre Stimmen abgegeben haben, als das Ding noch auf meinem Bildschirm war.
