@xahlee The problem was competing with Flash. For most of the history of open standards animation, the industry response was, "why bother? We can just use Flash." So, yeah, 20 years of hot air. Today, the easiest way to do animation is video-based and winds up on youtube. Until the tech is simple/tooled enough for _regular animators_ to use it, it will suck, and never be thoroughly tested / revised.

@yukiame @adam anyone doing realtime work is, whether that's recording real synths, or doing a live podcast, or a concert in a concert hall -- a tiny bit of latency makes echo/reverb type effects that can be really horribly annoying -- especially to other people with mutant ears. It's like -- to a violinist, all other instruments are perpetually out of tune, but to a drummer, not so much. :-)

@yukiame @adam depends on what i'm doing. Unfortunately, for low latency (using rack + virtual synths) it tends to be JACK(ass). It's tools like Jack that cause me to pause before suggesting others jump in "for a good time."
