    Looking at the question of how radical municipalism can go beyond the local.

    Addresses the criticisms that: 1. with looming global catastrophe, anything other than global response is not useful. 2. Local activism doesn't address global capitalism. 3. Capture of the state is the only way to effect change.

    Doing the article a bit of an injustice but my sum: confederations of radical municipalities can act nationally and globally to counter climate change and capitalism.

    Some good musings on the relationship between post-nationalism and post-capitalism.

    Hypothesis: β€œthat the β€˜municipal’ – whether we’re talking about towns, cities or city-regions – might be a fundamentally important scale at which, and through which, to generate progressive movements towards post-capitalism”

    Some good thorny issues that need examining in the β€˜Our questions’ section.

    I don't really know how FB works as a corp, but somehow the celebrity-style focus on Zuckerberg feels like a misdirection. Not to absolve him in any way, but there's a board, shareholders, hierarchy of managers, not to mention a rotten socio-political system behind every crappy thing that Facebook does. Every article about FB is accompanied by a goofy Zuck photo, look what this dufus did now. But I feel like, no, look what our society did.

    I haven't read the whole paper, but can't deny it has a catchy opening:

    "The purpose of this conceptual paper is to provide readers with an opportunity to reassess their work and life in the face of an inevitable near term social collapse due to climate change."

    @bhaugen @syndikalista @guillemot Thanks Bob.

    I'm quite tempted to try Patchwork, but I feel that ssb is something I'm more likely to use on my phone than my desktop, so I'll hold out for Manyverse to get there.

    (side note: always very impressed by Staltz's ability to communicate techy issues)

    @jalcine If you get scrobbling working to your site I am super interested in that. I am currently recording jams (https://doubleloop.net/kind/jam/) but all my scrobbles still go to last.fm. (P.S. Terrific is an awesome name for a project.)

    @wolftune @better Indeed! I am also using ublock origin, but was browsing in a different browser briefly and it's quite an eye opener.. there's a lot of ads out there.

    Sheeeittt. org-trello is pretty rad. I basically thought, wouldn't it be nice if I could sync work Trello boards with my org files at work, and lo and behold .. some badass has already written a package for it. Vive la FLOSS! Vive la APIs!

    It's pretty remarkably full featured two-way sync. Doesn't do everything exactly as I want, but still will be really helpful for me at work I think.

    @bhaugen @syndikalista Thanks for your efforts Bob - I'm mostly still just seeing spinners and things waiting to load at the moment. I guess either manyverse has some teething issues, or just the network is quite busy at the moment? I'll keep an eye on it though and check back periodically.

    "I regard cooperatives as a kind of commons, a mode of commoning that has made itself legible to the industrial-era state and market. [...] But I wouldn’t claim cooperatives are sufficient. They’re a starting point, a gateway to more diverse and widespread commoning."

    @bob I listen to Novara too, mainly as it's the only left-oriented podcast with a UK focus that I've come across. They rub me the wrong way sometimes but they know their stuff at least. Don't suppose you have any other left-wing podcast recommendations with a UK slant?
