Sounds great! :) The forum is a great place to get some help if needed and if "we" means a bigger organisation I would recommend to consider a subscription. Feel free to get on contact with us to figure out what we have to offer.
@spudboy Ah, this way. I don't know what Mastodon uses, FontAwsome, ForkAwesome, none of them,... But ForkAwesome has nice Mastodon icons. Maybe suggest in the Mastodon issue tracker to use ForkAwesome if it makes sense.
@Anna We also have meetups in various places. Maybe it would be possible to combine it or invite some Nextcloud developers to the workshop to give a introduction and to help the attendees to get started.
@Anna You could try Nextcloud. They could chose from a wide range of apps to contribute to, some of them are quite small and easy to get started, some are more complex or they could write their own small app.
I agree as well, Stallman talks are great if you are interested in the philosophy and the social, ethical and political aspects of Free Software. But I'm not sure if you will find the right arguments to teach companies about the economic values of Free Software. Therefore I would rather look at talks from Simon Phipps and other: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xup0HOyQy8U
@bob Remember what Stallman did ~30 years ago when proprietary software dominated, he didn't recommended abstinence he came up with a positive answer aka Free Software. We need to do the same with today's evolving technology (cloud, saas, IoT, whatever). Ignoring it will change nothing we have to get engaged and shape it in a freedom and privacy respecting way.
When I started reading it didn't sound bad until I reached this point:
"Unlike many of the best messaging services, RCS, and by extension Google’s Chat, is not and will not be encrypted. Despite being sent over the internet, it will be carried by mobile phone operators and therefore subject to all the traditional communications regulations of search and surveillance."
End-To-End encryption is a must have for any serious general purpose chat system in 2018, IMHO.
